There are thousands of existing groups working on promoting and supporting the LGBT community, including many that are working specifically on the issue that's sparked a national debate: gay marriage. Much of their work is focused on fighting anti-gay initiatives, bills, and laws. I encourage you to support their efforts with your donations and time.

American Family Association – this organization is particularly adept at dehumanizing anyone who supports equality
Inclusion of any organization here does not indicate their endorsement of this project. But they're probably cool with it, except for those listed under "The Opposition." Yeah...they're probably not too keen on this whole "equality for everyone" thing. "Not content with their own lives, they began living other people's lives, too."
